Jazze Pha traces his musical roots back to his father, Bar-Kays founding member James Alexander, and shares how growing up around Stax Records helped shape the producer he would become. He also reveals the inspiration behind his iconic “Ladies and gentlemen” producer tag and reflects on the Atlanta studio culture that helped launch a generation of hitmakers.
The two revisit Jazze Pha’s work with Ciara and Missy Elliott on “1, 2 Step,” including the story of how T.I. originally recorded a verse for “Goodies” before Petey Pablo appeared on the final version. Jazze also opens up about signing Jeezy, creating more than 50 records during Cash Money’s legendary run and working alongside Lil Wayne, Birdman and Mannie Fresh.
