As new evidence of the princess of Dubai’s situation comes to light, the world is again concerned for her well-being. In 2018, Princess Latifa of Dubai attempted to leave her home to start a new life, her boat, however, was intercepted, and she was brought home.
Since her attempted escape, Latifa has not been seen in public. With the help of a friend, she has been able to record videos and messages detailing her situation. Thanks to media coverage by the BBC, the story has reached the ears of the UN and other powerful world leaders.
The #FreeLatifa movement is a campaign headed by her friends and close supporters. The organization believes that Princess Latifa is being held against her will by her family at a villa guarded by police.
While the Dubai royal family state that the princess is being cared for at home, she tells a different story. Latifa later claimed that she was mistreated by her father and that she was lacking in many regular freedoms in Dubai such as being able to travel or drive a car.
