Why Britney Spears And Justin Timberlake’s Denim Outfit Was So Iconic

Bring back the early 2000’s, or not! One iconic moment from the era we can’t forget is Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake’s iconic matching denim outfits at the American Music Awards. Britney’s denim gown consisted of so many different types of jeans. She accessorized with a choker, bracelets, a chain belt, and a matching denim purse. The silhouette and accessories screamed late 1990s and early 2000s. On Justin, he matched Britney in having many different types of jeans. His Canadian tuxedo was paired with a poorly-constructed cowboy hat. Was his t-shirt denim or just blue? And hanging on his neck is a blinged-out necklace, more fit for a hip-hop music video.

Believe it or not, it was the it couple’s idea to match. They treated the event as their prom. After suggesting it to their stylist team, Steven Gerstein, Linda Stokes and Bart & Kurt constructed the design. Justin’s tuxedo is a denim version of the same tuxedo he wore for ‘NSYNC’s Celebrity album cover. We love reliving the outfit because of what it represented. Pop princess Britney Spears and golden boy Justin Timberlake were every pop lover’s dream couple. They were brazen, to not only wear a couple outfits but to use denim as formal wear.
