George Floyd will be laid to rest on Tuesday (June 9) in Houston, Texas. On May 25, the world saw video of his life being cut short after now ex-officer Derek Chauvin of the Minneapolis Police Department pinned Floyd down to the ground in an arrest by kneeling on his neck, which caused asphyxia. Three other former cops; Chauvin, Tou Thao, Thomas Lane and J. Alexander Kueng; were also involved in the fatal arrest. Thankfully, all four former officers have since been charged in Floyd’s death. Since this video surfaced, Black Lives Matter protests across America and in numerous countries around the world have been calling for justice to be served. Even celebrities and public figures such as Former President Barack Obama, JAY-Z, Beyonce, Rihanna and more have spoken out about the tragedy. Floyd’s family will now continue the fight to get him the justice he deserves.
