Tulsa’s Juneteenth party with Russell Westbrook, Symone Sanders, Jidenna, Sen. Kamala Harris & more

Welcome! You’re officially invited to Tulsa’s Juneteenth celebration. On Saturday (June 20) at 6 p.m. CST, viewers of the Tulsa Block Party can join in the festivities and celebrate the official end of slavery in the United States. Special guests who’ll be attending include Russell Westbrook, Senator Kamala Harris, Senator Kevin Matthews, Alfre Woodard, Jidenna, Former Attorney General Eric Holder, Tristian Mack Wilds, Sophia Bush, Dr. Jess, Symone Sanders, and many more.

Tulsa was once the home of “Black Wall Street,” a prosperous neighborhood in the Greenwood District of the Oklahoman city that was comprised of one of the largest concentrations of Black-owned businesses in the country at the time. However, it was burned to the ground in 1921 by white rioters, who also killed over 300 Black residents and injured hundreds more. This event, known as the Tulsa race massacre, remains as one of the worst genocides in American history. Though the neighborhood was somewhat restored, it was never truly the same again.

Ninety nine years later, let’s all come together and celebrate Juneteenth, and our brothers and sisters. #juneteenth #russellwestbrook #tulsa
