Since she released her first song, Ocean Eyes, when she was just fifteen, Billie Eilish’s career trajectory has rocketed skyward. By age 18, Billie Eilish is a five-time Grammy winner who performs worldwide at sold out tours. From a young age, Billie was exposed to music; her mother worked as a singer-songwriter, and her father played piano and the ukulele. Being homeschooled, Billie and her older brother Finneas were taught to pursue their passions. Eilish’s first EP Don’t Smile At Me, topped Billboard’s alternative albums charts, and her first full album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? Won five Grammys. Although Eilish is working on a new album, it’s release won’t be anytime soon, as she and her producer, Billie’s older brother Finneas, don’t want the album to be a “bummer” after everything that’s happened in 2020. With the album’s release on pause, fans can at least look forward to a Billie Eilish documentary. Slated for a theatre premier in February, 2021, The World’s a Little Blurry is an original documentary by Apple+, which will also be available on the streaming platform. Directed by R.J. Cutler, the film will follow Eilish’s journey in releasing her debut album. When she’s not releasing Grammy-winning music, Eilish has been an advocate for mental health and climate change. She’s opened up about her struggles with body image, self-harm, and Tourette’s syndrome, and has been compared to activist Greta Thunberg for her actions to combat climate change. The young pop star has been reinventing the genre with her macabre, haunting sound since stepping onto the scene in 2016. Eilish’s years of tireless work have lead to great success, but her journey hasn’t been easy.
