The Power of Red Lipstick

Who knew something so small could be so powerful?

Red lipstick has a long history of acting as a symbol of female strength and empowerment. From the ancient days in Mesopotamia and Egypt when women would crush stones and insects to achieve the vibrant shades on their skin.

In the modern era, red lipstick was made popular by silver screen starlets even before colour came to film. The scarlet shades gave women the boost of confidence they needed on stage.
For regular women, red lipstick held just as much power when it came to feminist and human rights movements. The suffragettes of the early 20th century would wear red lipstick as a symbol of their movement of rebellion and liberation.

Many celebs still rock red lipstick at events and red carpets to stand out and show the world the strength and confidence they feel on the inside. It’s also a popular shade for women politicians. What better shade than the powerful and self-assured red to help your ideas be heard in a sea of voices?

What’s your favorite red lipstick shade / brand? Does it empower you to take on your day with confidence?
