You can’t deny Taylor Swift’s musical genius. Not only are her lyrics carrying us through every era of our lives, but her music videos are quickly becoming a scavenger hunt for Swifties to find the hidden messages she wants you to decode. So that’s exactly what we’re doing! Follow along to catch the easter eggs you may have missed in the “Lavender Haze” music video.
Taylor isn’t one to always come outright and say a lot, but she will use symbolism in her music videos to get her point across. The koi fish is a message that seems to be the loudest. Fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of Taylor’s Version of the “Speak Now” album, and if the lavender hues weren’t a reminder of the purple dress she wears on the cover, the koi fish may be.
This video doesn’t only refer to music from back in the day. In fact, there are quite a number of easter eggs that refer to lyrics and song titles from her latest album, “Midnights.”
If you’re familiar with all 13 tracks on this album that’s based on stories of Taylor’s sleepless nights, then you’ll quickly notice the significance of the weather forecast stating rain at midnight, the Paris, or incense on a shelf.
