The essence of hip-hop lies within the cypher. The cypher is a battle of wits, rhymes, and poetics in which MC’s go at one another to give their best examples of lyricism. Soon enough, February 15th to be exact The Sway’s Universe Doomsday Cypher will take place for the second year in a row. The Sway’s Universe Doomsday Cypher will be hosted and curated by Sway himself. The cypher is not a battle, though, it’s a celebration of hip-hop as wordsmiths bring their most intense wordplay and bars.
Sway spoke about the cypher, stating: “This ain’t about how many records you sold or how many views you have or who co-signed your career.” The whole crew from Sway In The Morning will be in the building, including co-hosts Heather B and Tracey G, along with DJ Wonder. Along the way, Pete Rock and Big KRIT provide the beats while MC’s such as Taylor Bennett, Mickey Factz, R-Mean, Ren Thomas, and former Bad Boy recording artist Babs Bunny do their thing. If that wasn’t enough Don Flamingo, Don Mykel, Lyric Jones, Token, and Axel Leon also bring their lyrical prowess as well. This is something you won’t want to miss!
