In a recent interview on VladTV, DEA agents Steve Murphy and Harvey Pena, who were responsible for pursuing and killing Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar, discussed their backgrounds and how they got involved in law enforcement. Murphy, who grew up in Tennessee, explained that he initially had a negative experience with the police as a child, but it inspired him to become an officer himself. Pena, on the other hand, revealed that he did a three-month internship at a maximum-security prison as part of his sociology major in college. Both agents eventually found themselves working on drug-related cases, with Murphy joining the police department and focusing on narcotics in the mid-1970s, and Pena eventually joining the DEA. The interview provided insight into the early experiences and motivations of the agents, shedding light on their journey to eventually taking down one of the most notorious drug lords in history.
