Ronald Chatman remembers the construction of Loren Miller Park on 27th Street between Halldale and Dalton. The park was named after Superior Court Judge Loren Miller Sr. (1903 – 1967) that argued against Restrictive Convenants in the 1940s to the US Supreme Court. The area to build the park was cleared in 1979 and the first part of the park was built in late 1979 or 1980. The second phase was built in 1981, then the third phase which included a recreation building was built in 1982.
