Queen Elizabeth has held her role for so long that it’s hard to imagine the British monarchy without her! But once that happens and her son becomes King, things will change for some of our favorite royal family members. They’ve been following strict rules for years, but now Prince William and Kate Middleton would have all new responsibilities to deal with once Prince Charles ascends to the throne. William may very well end up losing his current title of Lord High Commissioner, but he’ll be entitled to profits from the very lucrative Duchy of Cornwall. Of course, he’ll also have way more responsibilities and may end up paying some bills for his brother Prince Harry and sister-in-law Meghan Markle. In addition to some potential new titles, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will definitely have to step up the number of royal engagements they attend per year and the new King’s coronation ceremony will definitely be one of them! This may also motivate them to amp up their efforts regarding getting Prince George ready to take the throne himself one day. But perhaps their biggest duty will be an unofficial one, since many believe they could help bring the monarchy into a more modern era.
