Meijer, who takes pride in his accessible, low-cost donations, criticized the ruling as unjust and argued that his services fill a critical gap amidst donor shortages. However, the trial garnered negative feedback from numerous families, with 50 submitting statements against him. He insists that some of these families were coerced. Despite the harsh verdict, Meijer respects the court’s decision and abstains from new donations. He expressed intent to explore the ruling’s legality while focusing on a Netflix documentary about his case. Remarkably, the fine doesn’t apply to natural pregnancies resulting from personal relationships, highlighting the court’s specific stance against Meijer’s donation practices.
