John Salley played for two of the greatest coaches in NBA history in Phil Jackson and Chuck Daly. However, Salley stated that Ted Gustus was the best coach he ever played for, while Chuck Daly was his best coach in the NBA. Salley gave Daly the edge over Jackson because of Daly’s ability to understand the different personalities of players.

The conversation transitioned to Michael Jordan’s decision to not speak out against social injustices during his playing career. Salley rejected the narrative that MJ taking up social justice would have made a major difference in America, reminding Vlad that the major topics were centered around foreign injustices, such as apartheid in South Africa, during that time.
