Illmac is facing Tay Roc in his URL debut at NOME—and embracing the ultimate test: “Am I really who I think I am?”
With one chance at a first impression, he explains what this battle means for his legacy.
Speaking with Knowledge Tha God for HipHopIsReal, Illmac breaks down the stakes of stepping onto URL against its “face” and “logo” in London on October 25. He explains how the offer came shortly after his Fate battle and why Tay Roc, NOME and London finally sparked the right moment after previous URL offers.
Illmac discusses his preparation, the challenge of adapting to a URL crowd, and why he pushes himself to outperform his own past performances—regardless of the opponent. He also gives Tay Roc his respect for years of consistency, hunger and evolution.
Plus, Illmac reacts to Tay Roc vs Rum Nitty at Summer Madness XVI, jokes about picking Nitty because Roc is his next opponent, and explains why he wants their NOME battle to become a classic that lives forever.
