Alana Thompson, AKA Honey Boo Boo, shot to fame while starring in the TLC reality show Toddlers and Tiaras at the tender age of six. Her family’s big personality quickly earned them a spot on TLC’s lineup with their own spin off “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo”. It wasn’t long before Alana’s stage mom known affectionately as Mama June was vying for her own place in the spotlight.
Now in its fourth season, Mama June has enjoyed her own spin-off reality show called From Not to Hot. June Shannon’s show highlighted the mom’s extreme weight loss transformation from 460lbs down to 160lbs. With her weight loss came even more increased fame and stardom. But with the fame came more drama with both family and the law.
Mama June found herself in hot water when in 2019 she was arrested for illegal substances and admitted that she struggled with addiction. Her troubles created distance between her and her daughters, including Alana. Mama June lost custody of Alana and was living with her trouble-causing boyfriend, Geno Doak.
Most recently, Mama June has expressed a longing to “stay clean’ and get her life and family back on track. From Not to Hot revealed in June of 2020 that the reality star had checked into a rehabilitation facility in order to help kick her addictions. Will this family be able to leave the drama for the TLC screen? Only time will tell.
