Hero pilots land planes rocked, bounced and thrown around during strong winds

This was the terrifying moment an easyJet plane tipped towards the runway at the very last second before hero pilots saved the passengers and crew from near disaster.

Pilots had been struggling most of the day to land at Birmingham’s BHX International Airport in England on Tuesday 6 February.

The easyJet flight from Belfast to Birmingham approached the runway but strong 45mph crosswinds hit the aircraft at the last moment, tipping it up sideways before the skilled crew regained control and landed safely.

Other pilots who struggled to land was the crew of an aer Lingus flight from Dublin to the city, the plane landed but was bounced and a gust of wind blew the fuselage to the side across the tarmac.

The strong winds come as the UK prepares to be hit by snow on Thursday.
