Here’s How Sting Inspired James Cameron’s ‘Terminator 2: Judgement Day’

Terminator 2: Judgement Day is one of the most successful sequels of all time, and director James Cameron credits Sting for coming up with one of the major plot points. James says Sting’s music inspired him to come up with the character of John Connor, who is 10 years old in the sequel.

James said he wanted to explore the Terminator protecting John, and getting his heart like the Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz. Actress Linda Hamilton also had her own ideas. She told James that she wanted her character to “go nuts” and do a complete 180 from the “damsel in distress” Sarah Connor from the first film. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s request? “Just make me look cool.”

Clearly, everyone’s ideas came together to make an amazing film. Thanks, Sting!
