——————–

In this clip, Godfrey explains his reasoning on refusing to wear a dress in either his stand-up routine or in film, sharing his theory that gay roles in Hollywood are meant to suppress black masculinity by design. From there, he notes that “black masculinity has always been a threat to the white majority” while referencing all the stereotypical black caricatures that were perpetuated in Hollywood since its inception, in addition to sharing his belief that black actors that previously wore dresses only did so to get further in their careers.
