There’s no denying it, BLACKPINK is the biggest girl group in the world right now. They have accomplished what many have tried before them. They are set to be the next Spice Girls in terms of popularity, impact and sales. The K-pop group consisting of Rosé, Jennie, Lisa and Jisoo is extremely talented but couldn’t get here on their own. In fact, their company learned from failures of other girl groups and K-pop acts who tried to venture into the American market.

Apart from BLACKPINK’s appeal and talent, it was a case of the right place at the right time. K-pop as a genre of music grew exponentially with social media. No longer is music confined by borders as people can easily share songs, images, and gifs of their favorite Kpop acts on social media. People love BLACKPINK because of how great they look while being talented. They adore their friendship, their individuality and their message of strong women. It is almost the same traits that drew people in the Spice Girls. BLACKPINK achieved world domination after a slew of Kpop acts attempted such as Wonder Girls, 2NE1, Girls Generation, Se7en, and more.

It was the perfect storm for BLACKPINK to take over. The girl groups that paved the way set the stage. Their company knew what people wanted and what they didn’t. However, do you think another K-pop group will be as successful as BLACKPINK? Let us know in the comments! For more K-pop related content and videos on the latest pop culture, subscribe to TheTalko.
