Martin Corona started off as a member of Varrio Posole in Oceanside near San Diego. He went through the juvenile hall system and eventually ended up in California State prison. While in prison during the early 1990s, he connected with some San Diego guys from Varrio Shelltown and upon his release he connected with David “Popeye” Baron from Varrio Logan Heights in San Diego.
This connection led Martin Corona into the Arellano-Felix Mexican Drug Cartel based in Tijuana, Mexico led by brothers Ramon Arellano-Felix, Benjamin Arellano-Felix, Eduardo Arellano Félix and Ramón Arellano Félix. They inherited the drug cartel from their uncle, Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo, who was the founder of the Guadalajara Cartel in the 1970s but then and arrested in 1989 for the murder of Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena.
Martin Corona became a hitman for the Arellano-Felix cartel and eventually wrote the book, “Confessions of a Cartel Hitman” in 2017. You can watch Martin read excerpts of his book:
