Luxus Resort was severely hit by a flood on 25th June 2025. The resort was unfortunately constructed in a natural floodplain, making it highly vulnerable to such disasters. Due to the increasing impacts of global warming, Hunza and the broader Gilgit-Baltistan region are now facing frequent and intense weather events, including glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs), flash floods, and unpredictable rainfall. Urgent attention is needed to implement sustainable planning, climate resilience, and strict regulations on construction in high-risk areas to protect both communities and the environment.
