In this VladTV interview from 2020, E-40 explained why he describes himself as an “intelligent hoodlum” or “hip square.” E-40 says he was someone that saw beyond his environment in Vallejo and wanted to take advantage of any opportunity to expand his scope. He described how that led him to Grambling State for a year where he formed the group “Intellectual Drifters” with his cousin B-Legit and another friend.
