Breaking NewsNew Orleans rapper C-Murder (real name: Corey Miller) has been denied the opportunity for a retrial in connection with his conviction for the 2002 killing of teenager Steve Thomas, New Orleans’ The Advocate and the Associated Press report.
Last year, two eyewitnesses, Kenneth Jordan and Darnell Jordan, recanted their testimonies from previous trials, claiming that they did not see Miller shoot the 16-year-old Thomas at a Louisiana nightclub. “I know the individual that I saw shoot the gun was not Corey Miller,” Jordan wrote in a sworn statement. He also claims in his affidavit that detectives pressured him to lie under oath about witnessing Miller commit the shooting and threatened him with his own criminal charges.
According to The Advocate, the judge ruled that Jordan’s recantations “were not credible” and that Miller “did not meet the burden of proof for post-conviction relief.”
