Cat fakes injured paw so family will let him inside their house

A crafty cat fakes a paw injury to get back into his house before walking perfectly fine once inside.

Hilarious footage filmed on April 6 shows ginger moggy Susan stood at Maria Brittons back window in Harrogate, North Yorks, holding his right front paw off the ground as if it was hurt.

After limping closer to the back door, a laughing Maria and husband Rob, both 50, opened the door to let the injured six-year-old back inside.

Once indoors again the feigning feline put his paw on the floor and happily strolled into their kitchen clearly unhurt as Maria jokes its a miracle.

Maria said: The first couple of times Susan did it, we seriously thought he was injured and ran to let him in.

Before people started pointing it out, I thought this was something some cats just did, but apparently not. It still does give us a giggle.

Since finding us he never wants to leave the house and is always begging to come in or protest when we put him out.

When he was injured, we used to fuss over him to get him into the house and he must have put the two together.

He will use the limp for sympathy both when wanting to come in and when we put him outside to be let back in again. Especially if the weather is bad.

He never limps indoors but stops immediately when he gets in.

When we moved into the house, we ended up taking in another cat, Sebastian, that was left behind by a neighbour.

He was a bit of an outdoor cat and didn’t always come back home at night, so we started putting food out for him. We soon discovered Susan creeping around the house.

Susan started sleeping in the garden and Rob thought he had literally come to die because he was in such a bad state. He was skinny, bloody, limping and had patchy fur.

Our son Hannes thought it was a girl and started calling him Susan. Rob followed him once down the street and discovered that he lived in an abandoned church.

The vet reckoned he was chucked out as a kitten as he wasn’t neutered or chipped. He has lived with us ever since.”
