James Safechuck attempted to revive his 2014 lawsuit against Michael Jackson companies, MJJ Productions and MJJ Ventures Inc after Gov. Gavin Newsom extended the statute of limitations for alleged victims. However, a judge dismissed the lawsuit over lack of evidence.
Safechuck sued the companies after claiming Michael Jackson abused him as a child on set. The Leaving Neverland subject argued that MJJ Productions and MJJ Ventures Inc. should have monitored Michael Jackson’s behavior and protected him.
The judge argued that Michael Jackson was the owner and sole shareholder of both companies so none of the employees had the power to supervise him or tell him what to do. The judge also determined that Safechuck presented no new facts and dismissed the case.
“Young Jimmy Safechuck was employed by this company and was entertaining with Michael Jackson,” said Vince Finaldi, Safechuck’s attorney. “The notion that this company and its employees would not have duty to protect him and keep him safe is ludicrous. His ruling turns California law on its face. We are going back to court of appeal and we are going to win this thing.”
