On March 28th, 2025, a powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar, sending shockwaves across Thailand. In a stunning display of courage, Kwon Young-jun, a father from Seoul, South Korea, found himself in a race against time to save his family.
While exercising on the 52nd floor of a 672-foot apartment block in Bangkok, Kwon was caught in the aftermath of the quake. As the sky bridge connecting the buildings began to collapse and debris rained down, Kwon’s quick thinking led him to make an incredible leap across a dangerous gap to reach his wife, Sukanya, and daughter in the neighboring block.
In his own words, “All I could think about was getting back down to the room to save my wife and child. I realized it was an earthquake, and the building was breaking apart, but I saw the gap and just jumped.”
