Beasley keeps it šÆ on the business behind Mook vs Surf, Loaded Lux vs Hitman Holla and URLās potential SM16 blockbuster battles!
Speaking with Rude Reid of HipHopIsReal at Marcus Garvey Park in Harlem, Beasley explains why URL cannot simply open the safe, meet every superstarās asking price and immediately announce the cultureās biggest matchups.
Beasley says Tsu Surf, Murda Mook, Loaded Lux and Hitman Holla are entitled to request the money they believe they deserveābut URL still has to secure sponsors, negotiate terms and make sure every battle makes financial sense. According to Beasley, the stars must align before these major matchups can become official.
He also addresses the changing business of battle rap, declaring that pay-per-view is dead as a reliable revenue stream and explaining why YouTube does not properly support uncensored battle rap content. Instead of forcing artists to change their lyrics for advertisers, URL wants to protect the raw expression of the culture while continuing to build its app.
Beasley also speaks on:
⢠The possibility of Mook vs Surf
⢠The continued demand for Lux vs Hitman
⢠What is holding up URLās biggest battles
⢠The money requested by battle rap superstars
⢠URLās plans heading toward Summer Madness 16
⢠Why pay-per-view is no longer enough
⢠Why fans supporting the URL app matters
⢠Bringing back the vintage SMACK DVD feeling
⢠Shotgun Suge and Wooosaahās Harlem battle
Beasley makes one thing clear: URL wants to deliver the biggest battlesābut the money, timing and business must work for everyone involved.
Which SM16 battle should URL prioritize first: Mook vs Surf or Lux vs Hitman?
