12 days ago the internet laughed at the Ben Simmons airball. Marc Spears just reported Ben Simmons is starting opening night for the Sacramento Kings.
In this video: Ben Simmons’ Kings debut vs the Warriors (started, won the tip, 7 points, step back jumper, hook over Draymond Green, zero threes), the minutes ramp he told Spears about (9, then 18 vs Portland, then 27 vs the Spurs), Scott Perry’s “why?” question and the two answers that got him signed, Steve Kerr’s postgame message after the Warriors passed on him, and the one number that decides whether this comeback works.
Ben Simmons Kings contract: one year, veteran minimum. Kings open Oct 21 at the Clippers. “Being Ben” airs on ESPN Oct 18.
