Los Angeles-area rapper Ada William Obayuwana, known as ColdheartedAC, was arrested and indicted on federal charges alongside two co-conspirators. Prosecutors state that the group orchestrated a multi-million-dollar fraud scheme spanning across Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego counties. The operation involved acquiring, altering, and forging endorsements on more than $8.1 million in stolen U.S. Treasury checks, tax refunds, and benefit payments. Law enforcement investigators uncovered over 100 stolen or fraudulent checks—totaling upwards of $6.1 million—inside his vehicle during a traffic stop. The defendants allegedly opened fraudulent bank accounts using victims’ personal information to launder and cash the stolen funds. Following his arrest, Obayuwana was remanded to federal custody facing multiple counts of bank fraud, delivering stolen Treasury checks, and aggravated identity theft.
