Michael Dorsey (Day 6 / Witness 18 / Part 5), Michael Dorsey is still on the stand on direct examination, while they play the audio from the BET Death Row Chronicles. The audio captures Keefe D saying they saw Tupac hanging out the window while he and Orlando Anderson, Big Dre, Terrance Dubble Up where in the car. Davis stated that when the cars met, Tupac reached down and started shooting, causing Davis to duck. Shots also came from the back seat of their own car, where his nephew (Orlando Anderson) and Big Dre were seated. Davis maintained that while shots rang out from the back seat, he did not know who specifically pulled the trigger.
Davis explicitly denied having previously stated that his nephew Orlando Anderson was the shooter, claiming any such paperwork or published reports were made up or false. Davis expressed feeling “railroaded” and heavily targeted by law enforcement (including the FBI, police, and U.S. attorneys) for over 27 years ever since the incident first hit the news. He stated he never gave a statement to the FBI when initially questioned because he did not want to go to jail, and explained that he was speaking out now to clear his name and get the truth out because everyone else was trying to profit off him.
After getting away and returning to the hotel, Davis and his nephew drove home to Compton the next morning. When the home crew saw that the rental car had bullet holes in it, one of the homies took it to a paint shop to get it fixed. Davis maintained he had nothing to do with fixing the vehicle. Davis discussed deep institutional corruption, explaining that Suge Knight was heavily protected by Compton police officers (such as Captain Reggie Wright Sr and Officer Reynolds), the mayor (Omar Bradley). Davis stated that going against Suge meant fighting a losing battle against corrupt local law enforcement and city officials who were paid off by the record business.
Davis described a meeting the night before a parole hearing at a lawyer’s office involving Reggie Wright Sr, Sergeant Reynolds, and defense attorneys, where an attempt was made to pay off his nephew Orlando Anderson with $60,000 in exchange for testimony stating Suge Knight hadn’t beaten him up. Davis claimed his nephew went along with it as a strategy to “chop off the head of the snake,” though the judge ultimately didn’t buy it.
Toward the end of the recording, Davis criticized popular entertainers like Justin Bieber, Bow Wow, and Soulja Boy for falsely claiming “Blood” affiliations as a fad, noting that people from actual gang backgrounds try to escape that life rather than embrace it once they achieve wealth.
