Russell Westbrook free agency 2026: he averaged 15.2 points, 6.7 assists and 5.4 rebounds for the Sacramento Kings last season on a veteran minimum contract, and he is still unsigned in late July.
NBA insider Evan Sidery reports Westbrook is not generating much interest and may open the 2026-27 season without a team. Miami Herald reporter Barry Jackson reported that a coach Erik Spoelstra trusts advised the Heat against signing him, calling him difficult to coach. Jackson later clarified that tip dated back to 2023, after Utah waived Westbrook.
Meanwhile EuroLeague reporter Gerard Sole says Panathinaikos, Hapoel Tel Aviv and Dubai Basketball have been linked to the former MVP.
