Divers exploring the famed quarry at Hemmoor, Germany, were treated to a surreal sight: a Piper PA28 aircraft resting at a depth of around 8 metres, complete with a dummy pilot still seated at the controls.
The aircraft, deliberately sunk to create an underwater attraction, has become one of the quarrys most photographed features. Its ghostly presence, suspended in the clear waters, offers divers a unique mix of aviation history and aquatic mystery.
Instagram creator @philipsscubaside captured the moment in a video that has now reached 1.8 million views.
