They Caught An Armored Catfish

Conservation photographer and expedition guide Ian Breland has sparked intrigue online after posting a video of a rare ripsaw catfish pulled from a remote tributary of the Amazon. The clip, shared on Instagram, has gained over 18,000 views and showcases what Breland calls one of the gnarliest creatures Ive ever seen.

The ripsaw catfish, known for its jagged lateral plates and prehistoric appearance, is native to South Americas freshwater systems. Breland, who advocates for ethical wildlife encounters, promptly released the fish after documenting its formidable armour and unique features.
